Unmolding the starboard main hull half

This stage went fairly straightforward. Turning the hull upright using four tackles was the exciting part, and she went over with literally just a couple of millimetres to spare. Most of the effort was not the lift itself, but cleaning up the mess afterwards and finding a new place for all the stuff I still refuse to throw away.

Once out of the mould, the half-hull turned out to be remarkably stiff. Instead of immediately starting the other hull half, I decided to continue with some interior work first, simply because access to the hull is excellent at this stage.

Life would be easier if I already knew exactly what to do with the interior… decisions, decisions. “Stick to the plans” is the best advice for homebuilders. But homebuilders are stubborn (that’s why they build it themselves). From my own sailing experience I know that an interior can look fine on the drawings, yet still need adjustments for real-world sailing. Which in no way detracts from the quality of the designer — it simply has to suit me.

So one thing is certain: the interior will differ from the design drawings.
