With the experience gained from the port float, construction of the starboard float starts with more confidence, cleaner workflows and faster progress.
Starboard float, the beginnings
The learning curve so far has been steep, and with that experience I hope the construction of the starboard float will progress significantly faster than the first port float (otherwise I have a problem). Progressive insight and growing experience lead to increasingly refined working methods and applications.
This chapter covers the construction of the starboard half of the float: setting up the form frames, thermoforming and installing the foam, applying the glass reinforcement, vacuum infusion of interior of the hull shell, and the installation of bulkheads and the carbon chainplate. In the photo gallery I also show additional construction details that were not documented in the earlier float.
This photo gallery (55 images) documents the construction of the first half of the starboard float, from setting up the frames and thermoforming the foam to vacuum infusion, bulkheads and the carbon chainplate.
