The successful infusion of the first hull half marked the real start of Fram’s life and provided an excellent excuse for a small but meaningful celebration.
"Keel laying"
The moment of truth. The real result only becomes visible once all infusion consumables – distribution fabric, hoses and vacuum foils – are removed. This is a clear milestone in the build, and one well worth celebrating with family and friends, preferably accompanied by food and drinks.
In traditional boatbuilding, laying the keel marks such a milestone and is often celebrated accordingly. The only slight complication when building a trimaran is the complete absence of an actual keel.
Nevertheless, the successful infusion of the first hull half proved to be a perfectly acceptable alternative. It marked the true beginning of Fram’s life and justified a festive unveiling of the hull. Admittedly, a few friends were disappointed to learn that this tradition would not be repeated for every hull that followed.
This photo gallery (20 images), shows the festive revelation of the first infused hull half. With the infusion materials removed, the true result of the process became visible for the first time, shared with family and friends who were closely following the build.
