The final paintwork marks the completion of the first float, followed by relocation and suspended storage to make room for the second build.
Final paint work and storage
The cherry on the cake is the high-gloss paintwork. At this point, the result of the labour-intensive fairing and sanding phase finally becomes visible. Since no final colour decision has been made yet, the float is finished in plain white.
To create space for building the second float in my modest workshop, the completed float was relocated to the workshop of my former employer. Under the roof of that building there is ample space to suspend the float, keeping it safely stored and out of the way.
As an aside: at that time I was still working there as a construction project manager, usually in a suit and tie. It was quite rewarding to receive genuine appreciation from the professional painters working there. They openly complimented the paint finish—something they had not expected from “the man in the tie”.
For now, the hull will remain suspended here, waiting for the company of her twin sister.
