Building and sailing an Ian Farrier F-39 trimaran
This section describes the construction of the carbon lower folding strut beam anchors. Instead of using bolted metal fittings, these anchors are made from carbon fibre and are fully integrated into the beams as a structural component.
The first components required for the construction of the beams are the carbon lower folding strut beam anchors and the upper folding strut recess moldings.
The carbon beam anchors are made in the same way as the hull anchors. Thanks to the experience gained during that earlier work, the construction of these structurally important components progressed much more quickly.
This photo gallery presents a detailed step-by-step sequence of approximately 25 images, documenting the complete process of building the lower folding beam anchors, from the initial laminations through to the final assembly.
