Instead of using a notched squeegee, I squirt the fairing compound as ridges on the hull, 10 to 15 cm. (4"-6") apart from each other. For this I use an empty caulking gun cartridge and filled it with fairing compound. I made the cover removable so I can use the cartridge again and again.
